What to Bring to a Furnished Apartment

Published on May 27, 2016 by Editor

There is no question that the appeal of furnished apartments in NYC is growing. After all, these are essentially move-in-ready. For people who don’t have furniture, or who simply don’t want to move their furniture, this is a great option. However, there are still a number of people who wonder what they should bring with them to their new furnished space.

Some essentials that you should plan to take along can be found here.

Cleaning Supplies

Regardless to whether or not the apartment is furnished, you should clean the space when you move in. After all, you never know what was done in the space before you. Cleaning everything will provide you with peace of mind. Some items to make sure you have include sponges, bleach and a toilet cleaner.

Kitchen Supplies

When you begin searching for temporary housing or a furnished apartment, you know that the furniture will be there – but sometimes this doesn’t mean small appliances such as blenders, toasters and coffee makers. It is a good idea to plan on taking these with you when you move.

Bedroom Supplies

Be sure that you have sheets, blankets and pillows for the bed. While the frame and mattress may be present, the other essentials will likely have to be brought with you. Some other things to remember for the bedroom include a laundry basket and alarm clock.

Bathroom Essentials

Don’t forget about the bathroom! You need to take toilet paper, soap, shower essentials and a bath mat. If you don’t have these things with you, it will not be very comfortable to stay in your new apartment.

Additional Supplies

When you sign the short term lease in NYC you should be able to see the apartment and get a good idea of what is there and what you will need to bring along. Some other items you may need to pack include: a door mat, curtains, area rugs, and possibly additional lamps or lighting.

When you take the time to figure out what you need to bring along to your furnished apartment, you will find it is a much smoother transition to move in. Take some time to review the items here to ensure that you have everything you need. When you do this, you will be ready to move into your space and enjoy all the benefits that go along with renting a furnished apartment.
